Opening Times in Amsterdam

The opening times for shops and museums in Amsterdam is similar to in many other European countries and is enough to organise both tourism and shopping.

Shops

Opening times in Amsterdam's shops is from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm and on Saturdays these shops normally close at 5 pm and open half an hour later. On Sunday, the majority are closed.

Some of the shops in more central and touristic areas, such as the red light district, may close a little later due to the volume of tourists. And on Thursdays many stay open until 9 or 10 pm.

Museums

The majority of museums in the Dutch capital are open from 9 am, and close at 5 or 6 pm. The largest normally have longer hours one day of the week, so we recommend planning your visit around these longer hours.
